Years before starting his firm, Peter J. Yanowitch developed his trial skills at the Miami based boutique law firm of Sams, Gerstein & Ward, working on major cases involving securities fraud, products liability, and medical malpractice. He joined the firm in 1981 and became a partner within five years. He played a key role in spearheading complex litigation stemming from the failed DeLorean sports car venture, recovering millions for investors and contributing to making new federal securities law on investor rights. Mr. Yanowitch was later recruited to join the New York City based litigation firm then known as Davis, Markel & Edwards, where he led its newly created Miami branch office for seven years before launching his own practice in 1995.

In addition to his legal career, Mr. Yanowitch has been a successful entrepreneur in his own right. He founded Raceworks, LLC in 2001 for the purpose of returning major motorsports events to Downtown Miami. Raceworks LLC staged the “Grand Prix of the Americas” where in 2002 it brought Indy Cars and the American Lemans Series sports cars for the first time on a race weekend. The "Grand Prix Americas" was broadcast on the CBS network. Mr. Yanowitch later sold Raceworks LLC to a public company.

Mr. Yanowitch earned his Juris Doctor from the Syracuse University College of Law, While in law school he was awarded a research and writing fellowship and taught legal research and writing to first year law students, while also serving as a notes and comments editor of the Syracuse Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree from Sarah Lawrence College. After graduating from Syracuse College of Law Mr. Yanowitch was hired as a law clerk to then Chief Judge Howard G. Munson of the United States District Court of the Northern District of New York. He joined the Sams, Gerstein & Ward law firm immediately thereafter.
